United Society Of Friends Women International

Welcome to the United Society of Friends Women International web site. USFWI is a Christian international organization of Friends (Quaker) women which reflects twenty-six yearly Meetings located in Africa, Cuba, Jamaica and the United States.

Beginnings: Formed in 1881 by Eliza Armstrong Cox and others responding to a concern among Friends Women for missionary work.

"The vision (of founder, Eliza Armstrong Cox) is still gripping us, leading us on. We still grow, altering our methods to fit the times, but nourishing the seed as it grows."

Purpose:

Enlist and unite all women in Christian fellowship and service;
Work cooperatively with constituent yearly meetings, associations, and members-at-large (women who are interested in the goals and works of the organization, but are not members of a local society);
Share in the mission of the church everywhere;
Stimulate spiritual growth;
Cultivate Christian stewardship;
Nurture education for mission among Friends of all ages.

We meet in our local churches where we share lessons from the Blueprints, our program study book.

We support Friends mission programs in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Palestine, Belize, Jamaica, Cuba and American Indians. Local groups will respond to local needs as well.

We work cooperatively within our yearly meetings.

Through our publication, The Advocate, members are kept informed of our activities.

We meet globally every three years in Triennial sessions. (The next Triennial sessions will be held in Kenya at the Sun 'n Sand Hotel north of Mombasa, July 1-5 2010. Registrations are currently requested.)
